THE PICTURESQUE WORLD HERITAGE
DANUBE VALLEY „WACHAU“
We start our tour by bus to Wachau, the romantic Danube valley located about 100km upstream of Vienna. Situated in the heart of the magnificent Wachau Valley, on the banks of the mighty River Danube, the charming town of Dürnstein offers the unique combination of a breathtaking scenery, traditional architecture, and places of historic interest which you will see during the visit of the former abbey of Dürnstein. It was in the Kuenringer Castle, whose ruins still overlook Dürnstein, that the English King Richard Lionheart was held prisoner during the winter of 1192/93. The breathtaking scenery with its ancient, terraced vineyards, the numerous cultural sites and the mild climate will make you want to linger. After lunch we will have a wine tasting and then we will go on a boat trip on the Danube, which takes us from Dürnstein to Melk with its magnificent Baroque monastery. After that, we will return to Vienna by bus.

BURGENLAND IMPRESSIONS
This tour takes you to Austria’s easternmost province, around Neusiedlersee, a large and very shallow lake at the border to Hungary whose widespread reed zone is the breeding place of numerous species of birds. In Eisenstadt, the smallest of all provincial capitals, and its Palace Esterhazy we follow the trails of Joseph Haydn, who was in the service of Prince Esterhazy. From Eisenstadt, we continue our excursion to Rust with its historic center, which was awarded the title European Cultural Heritage. Lunch, with a musical background provided by gypsy musicians, will be served in the restaurant “Alte Schmiede”. After lunch, you will go on a boat trip on Neusiedlersee, and finally you will have the opportunity to taste various wines from Seewinkel, one of the most famous wine growing regions in Austria.

HISTORICAL VIENNA WITH TOUR
THROUGH SCHÖNBRUNN PALACE
We start our tour at Ringstrasse to provide you with a first impression of the city. This boulevard with an approximate length of 4 km was created in the middle of the 19th century in place of the former city walls, which had become useless and were torn down. We will see buildings like the Museum of Fine Arts, the Museum of Natural History, the City Hall, the Burgtheater, the Parliament, the Stock Exchange and many more. The highlight of our excursion is a tour through Schönbrunn Palace, the summer residence of the former Imperial House of Austria. Our tour’s final destination is the Café Landtmann, enjoying a piece of fabulous cake and a cup of coffee.

KLOSTERNEUBURG AND HEURIGER
This tour first takes you via the Höhenstrasse road to mount Kahlenberg. From this spot you have a magnificent view over the whole city and its surroundings. The excursion then continues to Klosterneuburg, the first Babenberger residence in the Vienna area. The most impressive place of interest is the Augustinian Monastery, which was founded in 1114. The Monastery’s focal point is the renowned Verdun Altar, dated 1181, a unique work of art made of enamel. From Klosterneuburg you will be taken to Grinzing, to a well-known Heurigen, a typical Austrian wine tavern. There you will have a typical Heurigen meal accompanied with typical Viennese folk music.

CITY WALK VIENNA – CITY OF MUSIC
Vienna hosted numerous musicians who lived and worked in the city. On our tour we will pass the residences of Josef Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Ludwig van Beethoven to mention just a few. From the Michaelerplatz across the Augustinerstrasse we walk to the Vienna State Opera, one of the most famous Opera houses in the world. The highlight of this tour will be a backstage visit of the Vienna State Opera and the Opera House Museum. Along the Kärntnerstrasse we reach the St. Stephen’s Cathedral where we visit the chapel where Mozart’s corpse was blessed. Passing through small alleys we get to the Heiligenkreuzerhof, a picturesque baroque inner courtyard (quad). Passing the Basiliskenhaus we continue our walk to the Seilerstätte. Finally we visit the house of music where you can enjoy all conveniences an interactive museum has to offer.
